How Service of Process Works in Texas

What does a process server do?

A process server delivers court documents — citations, subpoenas, notices, and other legal papers — to the person or business named in them, then provides a sworn affidavit (return of service) proving when, where, and how delivery happened. Courts require service by a disinterested adult; in Texas, process servers are certified by the Judicial Branch Certification Commission (JBCC).

What kinds of papers does Apollo serve?

Citations and petitions, subpoenas (including witness subpoenas), restraining orders and injunctions, eviction notices, and other civil process — for law firms, businesses, and individuals.

How many attempts are included with an order?

Four attempts, worked at varied times of day — morning, evening, Saturday, and a daytime attempt — because people keep different schedules. Attempts include inquiries with neighbors or leasing staff where appropriate, and record searches for vehicle plates seen at the address, at no additional charge.

How will I know what's happening with my order?

You get email alerts as attempts are made, so you can see every attempt as it happens — and when service is complete, your affidavit is prepared and e-filed where required, at no extra fee.

What if the address I have is bad?

We hold your order for 15 days so you can provide a new address; service at a second address within the same or a bordering municipality (or ZIP code in rural areas) is available at a reduced fee. If you don't have another address, ask about our Locator Service — a full search by an experienced skiptracer, not just a database printout.

What is Rule 106 service?

When standard service has been properly attempted, Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 106 lets a court authorize alternative service — for example, posting the papers at the address and mailing a copy. Apollo completes the attempts and the affidavit that support a Rule 106 motion, and performs the posting once the court signs the order.

How fast will my papers go out?

Routine orders receive a first attempt within 72 hours. Rush and same-day service are available when a deadline demands it — tell us the date you're working against when you order.

What areas do you serve?

Dallas County and the surrounding counties — Collin, Denton, Tarrant, Rockwall, Kaufman, and Ellis. For addresses outside that area, Apollo assigns the work to a trusted local server and remains your point of contact through the return.

How do I place an order?

Email your papers to orders@apolloprocess.com with the service address and any details that help (best times, vehicle, gate codes). One local team takes it from first call to affidavit.
